Harnessing Nature, Building Resilience

The Himalayan region, known for its unique and diverse ecosystems, faces significant challenges due to climate change. These challenges include glacial melting, changes in water availability, an increased frequency of extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss. Addressing these issues requires a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach. The Himalayan Climate Consortium (HCC) formed by SAIARD, aims to bring together experts, policymakers, researchers, and local communities to develop sustainable strategies for climate resilience and adaptation in the Himalayan region.

Vision

To create a resilient and sustainable Himalayan region through collaborative research, knowledge sharing, and policy advocacy that addresses the impacts of climate change.

To foster interdisciplinary research and collaboration among stakeholders.

To enhance the adaptive capacity of local communities.

To advocate for evidence-based policies and practices that promote climate resilience.

To facilitate knowledge sharing and dissemination of best practices across the Himalayan states.

HCC Flagship
