The Concept

By adopting low-carbon and climate-resilient practices, they can become living laboratories for sustainability and inspire students, faculty, and communities to take collective climate action.
The Green Campus Movement of SAIARD is an initiative to transform academic institutions into carbon-neutral, sustainable, and climate-smart campuses. This movement aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote renewable energy, strengthen waste and water management, and integrate sustainability into teaching and research. By positioning campuses as models of climate action, this initiative aligns with India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) and global commitments like the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Net Zero 2050 agenda.
